The Story

Overview

The combination of a blue dial, blue bezel insert, and snowflake hands on the 79000B is a specific colour proposition within the BB54 range: not a neutral base with a colour accent, but a monochromatic composition with a warm contrast element. That choice positions this variant differently from both the black-dial 79000N and the smooth-bezel Lagoon Blue: it retains the rotating bezel and dive-watch architecture of the former while carrying the colour-forward character of the latter. The result is the BB54 configuration with the most clearly defined visual identity in the line.

The case is 37mm stainless steel with polished and satin-brushed finishing, the historically accurate dimension from Tudor's 1954 Reference 7922. The rotating bezel carries a matte blue anodized aluminum insert with no minute markings, consistent with the minimalist mid-century tool-watch specification. The blue dial carries applied markers with off-white Super-LumiNova and Tudor's snowflake hands; the minute track is gilt-printed, the one warm accent against an otherwise cool dial. No date, which keeps the composition symmetrical and the dive-watch read intact.

The movement is Tudor's in-house Calibre MT5400: COSC-certified, with a silicon balance spring and 70-hour power reserve. Tudor holds the fully cased movement to -2/+4 seconds per day, tighter than the base COSC standard of -4/+6. Screw-down crown; 200-metre water resistance.

Within the BB54 range, the 79000B is the variant for a buyer who wants the rotating-bezel, dive-watch configuration with a colour story rather than the black-and-gilt standard. Against the 79000N, the Blue introduces a more contemporary visual character while retaining identical movement, water resistance, and proportions. Against the BB58 at 39mm, the BB54's argument remains consistent: 37mm is the historically accurate Tudor dive-watch dimension, and the blue-dial configuration makes that case with a character the BB58 Blue does not replicate. This piece is preowned, excellent condition, complete original set with box and papers dated May 2026, on the riveted steel bracelet, at RM15,000 against RRP RM18,430.
